His Holiness Jayapataka Swami Maharaja is a direct disciple of His Divine Grace Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, Founder-Acharya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness.
Jayapataka Swami accepted the renounced order of holy life (sannyassa) from Srila Prabhupada in 1970, and since that time has travelled throughout the world spreading the message of Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu.
In addition to travelling widely throughout the Western countries, His Holiness has focussed much of his efforts on reviving the Vedic culture within India, and guiding the development of the Sri Mayapur Project, a service given to him by Srila Prabhupada.
Jayapataka Maharaja is also a member of the ISKCON Governing Body Commission (GBC), and is responsible for overseeing the missionary efforts in many zones throughout India, Asia, North and South America and the Middle East, together with his GBC godbrothers. He is also the Minister for Congregational Preaching, and His Holiness is always inspiring householder devotees to practice and preach the principles of Krishna Consciousness within their own homes and communities.
