3 Posting audio

Once you have your edited audio files, you are ready to post them to the web. Here are the steps to do that:

1. Go to hearjps.com and click on 'Post Podcast' in the bottom right of the screen.

2. This will take you to the login page, so login there with your name and password.

3. Next you will see the manage podcasts page, and you can click on :: post podcasts at the top left to post a new podcast lecture.

4. You should now see this screen. Leave the category as General, but add in the lecture title, your name in the author box (this will come up as "Posted by:" in the podcast, please put this in so everyone can see who is posting the lectures), and any notes you want to add.

5. If you scroll down to the bottom of that box you should see this:

6. Select 'Browse' next to the 'upload media file' section, and navigate to where you have saved your mp3 lecture. You will note it says maximum upload file size is 10Mb. Some devotees have had trouble even with 9 Mb files, so you night want to make 2 files if it is a longer lecture (see notes below).

7. Press 'Post Podcast' button once only. You should see an hourglass symbol where your mouse pointer usually is if you hover over this area. It takes a while to upload these files, so be patient, it will work.

8. Once you have uploaded the file, your screen will automatically come up with the "Manage Podcasts" screen, and you should see your newly posted lecture on the list, and also on the home page of hearJPS.

9. Well done! Thank you for contributing to the site, Guru Maharaja is definitely happy when his disciples are engaged in this kind of service that helps our own spiritual life, as well as others also.

Further notes about uploading audio files:

  • If you check the Properties of your saved file it should be a 16kbps, mono file. This file format should be no more than about 7 Mb for a one hour lecture.
  • If the lecture is more than that, you need to cut the audio in half to make 2 files, so they can be uploaded to the site.
  • If you upload the second half of the lecture first, then the lecture will be in proper order on the page because the home page acts like a podcast and orders the lectures with the most recent post first
